WEATHER DATA METHODOLOGY

A weather number needs context.

This page defines how climate context, live forecasts and planner recommendations should be kept separate.

Three layers of weather information

01 / CLIMATE

Historical averages

Use official or authoritative climate data for long-term temperature and precipitation context.

02 / FORECAST

Short-term conditions

Use a commercially permitted forecast provider with caching, timestamps and a clear failure state.

03 / OPERATIONS

Local notices

景区开放、铁路变化和临时通知 must come from the responsible official operator, not from a weather API.

What the final version must disclose

  • Historical averaging period and observation point or grid
  • Definitions for high/low temperature, precipitation and rainy days
  • °C/°F conversion and data refresh dates
  • Forecast provider, commercial permission and cache behavior
  • Limits for mountain, valley, city-center and nearby scenic areas

Update rhythm

Live forecasts should be cached within provider limits. Historical climate should be reviewed annually. Travel recommendations should be reviewed quarterly and after major weather events.
